Kansas Sentencing Commission Announces Mark Keating Has Been Appointed To The Commission

The Kansas Sentencing Commission announces that Mark Keating has been appointed to the KSSC by Jeff Zmuda, Secretary for the Kansas Department of Corrections. Keating recently was selected to serve as the next Chair of the Prisoner Review Board (PRB), after serving over eight years as a PRB member.

Mark’s career in corrections began in 1992 as a Parole Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he later served as a Parole Hearing Officer for the Texas Board of Pardons of Parole. Mark joined KDOC in 1999 and has served in a variety of roles over the past 25 years to include that of Parole Officer; Parole Supervisor; Director of Sex Offender Management; and Regional Parole Director.

Mark is a committed public servant, one with an exceptional understanding of the circumstances that indicate an incarcerated individual is prepared to return to the community and the factors that need to be in place to mitigate their chance of reoffending and returning to prison. Mark has a Bachelor Degree of Arts, Sociology from Baylor University and a Master of Science, Criminology from Indiana State University.

Mark replaces Jonathan Ogletree after his retirement.
