The Kansas Sentencing Commission recently appointed Carmen Diaz as its newest Senior Research Analyst. Ms. Diaz is an applied criminal justice researcher and doctoral candidate in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University Bloomington. She holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Public Safety from Indiana University Indianapolis. She has over five years of experience conducting research in partnership with prosecutors, probation professionals, and other criminal justice stakeholders. Her recent work examines prosecutorial decision-making, probation supervision practices, and the pretrial period. Her research has been published in the Journal of Criminal Justice, the Federal Sentencing Reporter, and the Journal of Experimental Criminology.
