Representative Bob Lewis was appointed to the Sentencing Commission on January 24th, 2025. Rep. Lewis was born in Garden City, Kansas. Lewis graduated from Garden City High School in 1976. He earned a bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in 1980 and a law degree from Stanford University in 1984. Rep. Lewis served as an Assistant  United States Attorney (Criminal Division) in Los Angeles and the federal indigent defendant panel in New York. He has served on the board of the Garden City Family YMCA and as a Finney County Republican Precinct Committeeman.

 Rep. Lewis is currently chair of the Corrections and Juvenile Justice Committee, Vice Chair of the Government Oversight Committee, Member of the Judiciary Committee, and Member of the Federal and State Affairs Committee.
