Post Date:08/03/2026 3:19 PMKansas Sentencing Commission is pleased to announce that Joel Hrabe has been appointed to the Commission. Mr. Hrabe currently serves as Chairman of the Kansas Prison Review Board. He retired after 32 years of State Service in June 2023 serving as Deputy Secretary of Facilities Management within the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). Previously, he had served as the Warden of Norton Correctional Facility, a position he held since 2017. During his 27 years at Norton Correctional Facility, he served as Deputy Warden, Classification Administrator, and Corrections Counselor and completed the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Executive Excellence program. He has also worked with the agency’s Special Operations and Response Team (SORT), and as an instructor for emergency preparedness and response. Mr. Hrabe has served as a lifelong first responder, holding positions as a Law Enforcement Officer, Emergency Medical Services Paramedic, and Volunteer Fire Fighter. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Kansas State University and an associate degree from Barton County Community College. Mr. Hrabe replaces Mark Keating on the Commission.Return to full list >>
